Overview
The 2009 CREATE conference was held on October 5-6 in Austin, Texas and highlighted current research on methods for building literacy skills and oral language development for English language learners throughout the school curriculum. CREATE researchers and other top scholars described implications of their research on the features of instruction that support English language learners' development across their curricular experience.
This conference was attended by instructional leaders in state and regional agencies, school districts, schools, colleges of education, and publishing companies. The conference supported participants’ learning with essential readings on the central themes of the conference (distributed in advance), keynote presentations, question-and-answer sessions with presenters, and small group interactions with colleagues.
