Wen (Elyssa) Sun is a Research Assistant at the Center for Applied Linguistics with a M.A. in TESOL from Teachers College, Columbia University. Since joining CAL, her work has been focused the test development of BEST Plus 3.0 as well as the field test coordination of BEST Literacy 2.0. Most recently, Elyssa has contributed to the development of the MA ELPAC online course and the rubric development of EHLS PPA. She has also had the opportunity to work on the field test scoring and qualitative analysis of WIDA Kindergarten Screener assessment.

Prior to working at CAL, Elyssa worked as a Linguistics Specialist for a world language publishing company in New York where she developed content for digital textbooks and assessment materials. She also conducted professional training for Chinese, ESL, French and Spanish instructors. In addition, she has had many years of experience teaching ESL/EFL in Sri Lanka, China, and New York. Her research interests lie in Second Language Assessment and Conversation Analysis. Outside of work, Elyssa is also a tech enthusiast and Sci-Fi fanatic.
