Brittany York serves as a Senior Research Assistant in the Language and Culture Education Division, supporting research and development tasks for a multilingual formative and e-portfolio assessment. She leads the development of item writing procedures and processes, rubrics and scorer training materials, and literature reviews. Brittany also assists with project evaluation activities, outreach activities between stakeholders, data collection, and other project logistics. Prior to her role as a Senior Research Assistant, Brittany was a Senior Language Testing Specialist on the WIDA ACCESS for ELLs Assessment. There, she primarily worked on item development and rater training and scoring materials for elementary grades, with much of her expertise contributing the development of new assessment and scoring materials for Writing.
Before joining CAL, Brittany was a TESOL educator and worked in both Virginia and Georgia. She received her B.S. from Virginia Tech and her MAT in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages from the University of Georgia. In her free time, Brittany enjoys the arts and dabbles in poetry and spoken word.
