CAL Joins National Education & Access Working Group

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Mrs. Roberta Miceli of the Center for Applied Linguistics joined the education-and-access focused working group led by the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO). The purpose of the task force is to provide support for states, districts and schools as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Roberta and her colleagues on the working group have been tasked with establishing a research agenda, developing on-going guidance for the field in curriculum/instruction, assessment and data, and policy, as well as serving as resource to meet urgent needs. The task force is comprised of participants from 10 states and two affiliate member organizations, CAL and ELPA21.


The Center for Applied Linguistics (CAL) is a non-profit organization founded in 1959. Headquartered in Washington DC, CAL has earned an international reputation for its contributions to the fields of bilingual and dual language education, English as a second language, world languages education, language policy, assessment, immigrant and refugee integration, literacy, dialect studies, and the education of linguistically and culturally diverse adults and children.
