Teaching For Tomorrow
This film provides an overview of the refugee training program in the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia. The film depicts the training of refugees from Vietnam and Cambodia in English, American culture, and pre-employment skills prior to their resettlement in the United States. The film won a CINE Golden Eagle Award for Independent & Emerging Media in 1984. With the fall of Saigon in 1975, CAL focused on the needs of hundreds of thousands of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Laotian refugees and the teachers and social workers who worked with them. CAL’s refugee work was funded by the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare and the U.S. Department of State. Film production was conducted by The Media Group in Washington, DC. (1984; Re-edited and re-released in 1990).
