Anna Zilberberg, PhD, is the Senior Director, Language Assessment and Instructional Research (LAIR) at CAL. In this capacity, she provides direction and oversight for a portfolio of initiatives related to language assessments, applied language education research, as well as policy and practice in the field of world languages.Â
Prior to joining the Center for Applied Linguistics, Anna spent about nine years managing test development and implementation of multiple teacher certification assessment programs at Pearson VUE. She brings her experience in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with educators as well as her expertise in assessment design and applied educational research to the role.
Anna obtained her Master’s degree in Quantitative Psychology and her PhD in Assessment and Measurement from James Madison University (Harrisonburg, VA). She obtained her BA from Wellesley College (Wellesley, MA). Anna is a Russian/English bilingual. Her research interests and areas of experience include the development and validation of performance-based assessments, test-takers’ perceptions of assessments, standard setting, and equity in language testing.
