What can I learn from this module?
This module will enhance your understanding of HLLs and support you in developing assessment practices that best meet your needs and the needs of your heritage language (HL) students. By the end of this module, you will be able to answer the following questions:
- Who is a heritage language learner? What are some factors that influence HL development?
- Why is assessment important for heritage language learners?
- What types of tests are appropriate for HLLs? What approaches to assessment will be useful for this population?
- What HLL-specific considerations do I need to make when thinking about my classroom assessment practices?
- How do I select, adapt, or develop an assessment that makes sense for my context?
How should I use this resource?
