Impact Sample Response – Elementary
Concerns & considerations:
- Would be high stakes with possible negative impact on kids who have studied for years but don’t pass
- Need to consider assessment in planning instruction
- Worries about academic freedom/narrowed curriculum
- Could raise the school district’s profile if students perform well
- Could put a lot of stress on instructors to make sure that their students pass the test
- Parents/stakeholders would be very invested in seeing their kids pass the test
- Using a performance-based speaking test might encourage classes to focus on speaking skills
