Study Shows Significant Math, Reading Gains for ELs

English language learners are improving their math and reading scores on the National Assessment of Educational Progress exam faster than their peers who speak only English, according to a study in the journal Educational Researcher. Researchers say policy changes under the No Child Left Behind Act and an increased focus on ELL instruction may have contributed to the improved scores.
