New York City to Add Almost 50 Bilingual Programs, the Latest in a Push to Help English Learners

New York City schools will offer 32 additional dual language programs and 16 transitional bilingual programs, Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza announced, a move that could help better integrate schools and also boost learning for students who are learning English as a new language. Carranza noted that the move is a "matter of social justice" for many students.
