Do English Language Learners Get Stigmatized by Teachers? A Study Says Yes

Teachers can have a skewed perception of the academic abilities of students who are labeled as English language learners, according to researchers from the University of Oregon and Germany's Leibniz Institute for Research and Information in Education. In general, teachers were found to have lower perceptions of ELL students' academic skills and less knowledge of those students.
