Cultural Immersion Trip to Mexico Opens Teachers’ Eyes. What Can They Do to Better Serve Their Latino Students?

Teachers in a North Carolina school district recently participated in a cultural immersion trip to Mexico as part of Duke University's Visions program. Channa Pickett, senior program coordinator, said part of the goal is to give teachers experience in a country where they do not know the language, similar to what is experienced by immigrant children in US schools.
