Babies Retain Their Early Exposure to Foreign Languages

Infants younger than 6 months who are exposed to their native language may be able to retain it years later, even if they don't hear it while growing up, according to a recent study. Researchers noted that Dutch-speaking adults who had been adopted and moved from South Korea to the Netherlands as infants were more successful at identifying Korean sounds than Dutch speakers who did not know Korean.
